Troy Vance and I are Wondering?
Troy Vance told us about a little brown bird with a red head that was eating at his feeders. He was wondering was kind of bird it was...well, I got to watching and I have the same bird here. Troy took the bottom two pictures in Texas and I took these top two here on Galla Creek. Is this a female Cardinal? What bird is it? Troy and I are addled.

Looks like a House Finch from what I can tell.
Hi Mr. Larry,
I think your birds are Purple finch or House Finch. If you google birds of Arkansas you will see them and I beleive they mention how to tell the difference.
I have been told, as the other comments have stated, that those are house finches.
Thanks so much for letting me know. I am not wondering anymore.
DITTO on the house Finch, they are very common in Tn,but may be a rarer site in Texas,I'm sure Troy will tell you that the ones in Texas are much BIGGER HA HA !!! Pete
