Surely Spring is near

 Red Wing Blackbirds hassle us all summer and they are here hogging our bird feeders so surely warm weather is near.

Pictures From Kentucky

  David Taylor's son sent new photos of Quinnie.  The last photo is a Quinnie pup--Bear!  Quinnie is a full sister to our beloved Spook.  I owned her and trained her and now I pine for her to come home again.

Biscoe Betty

 B B is out of Larry Ellingson's Belle Starr and Spud.  She is a half sister to Viper.  I got her from Larry at the first of February but she has been in season and I can not work with her.  She was born on Miss Betty's birthday June 14.  I have not made up my mind about whether I will keep her or offer her to a new home.  She is surely a pretty Feist.  She has Spud's stance.  Her mother is out of Max.  She is a sister to Roxy who I posted a picture of yesterday.  Zach Kraft owns Roxy and she is already treeing.

 Thanks, Zach Kraft for sharing these beautiful photos of Buster and Roxy.  I sure hope my Biscoe Betty (Rosy's sister) does this well.  I got her from Larry Ellingson the first of February and that week she came in season so she has been in the heat pen since.  Roxy gives me hope for B B turning into a real squirrel dog.
Here is  Zach's praise for his two Galla Feists-
Had a great hunt this morning. Only killed one but couldn't have asked any better out of the dogs. Roxy yelped a little on three trees. She barked enough on this hollow to get me and buster to come. She's way ahead of where he was at that age and at two he's awesome so I have a lot of confidence in her.

Heath Thomas' Zeke & Zoey

Heath sent photos of his hunt with Zeke and Zoey!  They are doing great he reports.  Zoey is the same cross as our Tie!  And Zeke is out of Patch and Tie is what I recall but may be mixed up.  Here is Heath's email report:
They are doing awesome.  Treeing real good. I went hunting on my dads place with him. Not many squirrels around there like they used to be. My dad lives in Sandy Hook Mississippi. I'm going with my cousin as soon as it stops raining again. Most rain I have ever seen this year.

Snowy Day

Snowed most of the day but not much coverage as we stayed just above freezing.  Another round coming tonight.

Zach Kraft's Roxy and Buster

 Zach called today and told us how pleased he is with his two Galla Feists.  Buster is about 2 years old but Roxy was born in June so she is still young.  She is treeing and hunting up a storm.   Roxy has caught two squirrels on the ground so she is moving fast.  Thanks for sharing the pictures, Zach and love to get the videos.  I think this one is from a couple of months back when Roxy was just taking off.  Watch and smile!

Lee Majors

I think this is a Tie Sadie pup that Lee Moore's friend Jimmy owns.  Looks like he is taking off.  He is older than Pearl, I believe from the litter before Pearl.  Hope Pearl is doing this next year.  She is a favorite of mine as she has 'get and spit'.  I really like her. I have her hunting in front of the truck...if only we had some squirrels.

Quinnie--Spook's Sister

 Had a call tonight from Rosine, KY (home of Bill Monroe).  David Taylor there owns Quinnie.  She is Spook's sister.  I sold her when she was about a year old.  It was good to hear of her.  Biggest mistake I ever made was letting her go.  Would not happen today.  She would still be here.  He promised to send me some new pictures.

Four And Twenty Blackbirds

We had visitors this morn.  I heard a huge chorus and looked out to this!

Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds,
Baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened,
The birds began to sing;
Wasn't that a dainty dish,
To set before the king?

The king was in his counting house,
Counting out his money;
The queen was in the parlour,
Eating bread and honey.

The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes;
When down came a blackbird
And pecked off her nose.

They sent for the king's doctor,
who sewed it on again;
He sewed it on so neatly,
the seam was never seen.

Saluting Spud--My Old Buddy!

 This summer Spud will turn 8 and it does not seem possible.  It really makes me sad as he has been a good and loyal friend.  I know I will have him more years, but like me he is aging!  I took him yesterday on a hunt by himself and he did not let me down!

Allar's Fred

Allar's Fred was a son of Old Langford's Rowdy.  He was the sire of Galla Creek Belle Starr!  Rowdy, Fred, and Bell are long departed, but not forgotten on Galla Creek.

 Sandy and Billy Floyd took Catfish home to LA.

Galla Creek Romeo

Romeo is the grandfather of Rowda (Sugar) Catfish's mother. Rowda's sire is Dan, son of Nogo Nell and Romeo. Nell is out of Old Rowdy. Romeo is out of Bell whose sire is Fred (son of Old Rowdy). Pris is Catfish's grandmother (mother of Rowda. Pris is out of Dale (son of Old Rowdy and brother of Fred). Romeo's sire is Max--who is Spud's sire! Spud's mother is Spook. ;Spook's mother and Max' sire were brother and sister. Around and around the wheel turns--like on wheel of fortune. No matter where the wheel stops on the gene pool of Catfish; it will land on a squirrel dog! Pris' grandmother is Pepper--a daughter of Old Rowdy! Billy Floyd of LA is coming to pick Catfish up tomorrow!

Hagar's Tripletts

Ish with his two brothers below!  The one pup looks like him!
Hagar is owned by the Marc Rutland family of Mississippi if anyone down that way is looking for a Galla Feist pup.  Two of these pups are females and one male.  Billy Copeland of MS may want one of the females and Marc may want to keep a pup.  The father of the pups is Ishmael.  After Hagar conceived the litter Ish was hit by a car so these are the only pups ever from this cross.  Hagar is out of Patch and Tie and I think Spud is Ish's sire.

I you live in MS you can call me and I will relay Marc's phone number.

Dennis Goins' Molly

 This is Dennis Goins' Molly.  Molly is out of Chaney and Tie.  Chaney is from Opal and Shooter.  Dennis has put in an order for another pup in our next litters.  But so far we don't have Dobs or Opal in heat so we are just waiting.

Here is Dennis' email message:
Hi Larry, Dennis here in Mississippi . Sending you some pictures of Molly , really made a good tree dog as you can see . Looking forward to getting the male pup. Have a great day and God Bless
