Getting Started

The most common problem I get calls about is folks that can't get there young Feist to bark. I say the key is encouragement. Betty took this video last week. I keep one young Feist running out so I can give them encouragement, discipline and guidance. You have to be on your toes and catch them doing what you want them to do and then reward them for it! Watch this young male treeing a squirrel near my garden. He is 'getting started'.

Tyler Glass is Busy!

Steve Glass' son Tyler is a busy boy. You can see he enjoys

hunting. Their Feist squirrel dog is coming along and learning

the ropes. His name is Friar Tuck. He is out of Olive Oyl

and ole Max. Steve and Tyler are getting the larger white

female from the Dobs/Shooter litter. Here is Steve's email

about Friar Tuck.

Tuck at 8 months riding 4 wheeler. Tuck is working squirrel scent on

the ground very good. But not treeing by scent yet. He is treeing by

sight. Treed a squirrel in the squirrel tube the first time that I

put him on it.

Hunting in the Cedars of Lebanon

Well, in Tennessee....not the Middle East. Here is Roger Littlejohn's email. So nice to see Smarty again.

I took Pretty Boy Smarty for a one hour late afternoon round today at Cedars of Lebanon. Cedars is not an easy place to hunt expecially during the summer. Lots of undergrowth, lots of den trees and not a lot of squirrels, but he treed four times and I was able to find him one and knock it out to him. He was get'n out 300 to 400 yards on me. He's get'n a pretty good nose on him. Roger
