We took Jag back out today and Laine busted another Armadillo and then Jag got on his first squirrel. Here's the low down. Laine and I was walking down this logging road and Laine saw a squirrel from a distance going up and down a tree. When we went to the tree, Jag picked up the scent and went crazy in the brush pile nearby. The squirrel ran out of the pile and Jag got a little tangled and had a hard time getting out. We knew it ran out to a tree nearby and Jag picked the scent back up and I saw the squirrel. Jag picked up the scent on the same tree and Laine said he was sort of whining and was trying to "climb the tree". I saw the squirrel move and I was afraid that we would lose it if we waited to long so I popped it for Jag and Jag watched it as it dropped from above. It was barely moving as it hit and Jag was all over it! He still doesn't hunt too far off but I guess he'll get out further as he gets older. Coyotes were all around also.... Hopefully Laine will shoot the next one if I can get him off the Armadillos.

P.S
Forgot to tell you, Jag also came face to face with a little doe and didn't have a clue what he wanted to do next. They just stared at each other for about 15 seconds. He watched it scamper off and then acted like he chased it off...At least we know we don't have a "deer dog".

Way to go Laine!!
I bet if Jag is doing this good at 4 months old, all of the squirrels will learn to fear his name. You, your dad, and Jag will have many great hunts over the next several years!
Happy huntin...........Clint
Way to go Laine. I love the pictures.
