In Louisiana we throw old christmas trees in the water with a weight tied to them to anchor them for crappie cover or some tree tops. I have never seen what you built used this way...let me know how they work. Your new place looks nice, Larry and Betty. Steve
Steve, I cut 18 7 foot cedars 2 weeks ago and put concrete blocks on them and put in the lake. I just thought I would try some pallets made into A frames and weight them down.
On Kentucky Lake, structure is structure,so my thought is that they will work perfect.Just remember where you put them,I like GPS.The currents bad down here and has a tendency to wash our crappie matts away.Don't think that will be a problem on Galla Creek. You'll be a happy man come spring if you can get them placed. It's alot like fishing in a bucket. Pete
One more thought, after looking at your design,it would be very easy to wire cedar branches to the outside of your matts, they may look more natural. Pete
