Lybrand's Cedar

Rev. Lybrand (United Methodist Minister) phoned recently about his little Feist squirrel dog, Cedar. Cedar is young but he hopes to have a good hunting companion when Cedar is trained. Cedar's mother is Mt. View Pepper, a daughter of Old Rowdy. Bruce Bilhovde of Dardanelle owns her. He wanted to have one more litter of pups and when Cedar was born Pepper was going on 10 years old. I took the photo of her below about the time her litter of pups with Shooter were weaned. You can see that Cedar got his ears from Shooter but his looks from his mother. Pepper has the ears of Old Rowdy. It is always nice to hear of the pups from Shooter and offspring of Langford's Rowdy. Hopefully, Rev. Lybrand will send updated photos has he gets Cedar in the woods.

Black Gum

This is the Black Gum tree by my pup Kennels. It is a work of art created by God. I am awed each time I look at this tree in the fall. I have a pretty Maple tree, a huge wild Cherry, a Ash, and Oakes and Cedar around the pup Kennels. I am going to build my adult dog Kennel above
where these pens sit. I AM going to have a septic system with the Kennels. I am a dreamer and I am designing my new Kennels now. Well, mostly just in my mind, but I will put it to paper before I start building. I am building a tractor shed now in the Meadow. I have 5 large tractors and lots of equipment. I want them out of the weather.

Pup Kennel's Built

This picture is from Galla Creek Lane. Where the red tree is in the distance and the little shed,
sits my new pup kennels. You can not really see them from the road. You can see I can turn them out with no danger of any dog getting hit by a car.
This is a closer picture. You will recognize the red tree. I have three smaller puppy pens and a big pen going around it all. I have purchased a solar hot wire to go around the bottom on the outside of the entire thing. So far the pups in the pen have not been getting out but I don't want dogs digging so Iwill put the wire in next spring.

O' Hickory

Sterling Earhart sent a new picture of Hickory. Hick is out of Tia and Radio if I remember correctly. Thanks for sharing the photo and hunt with us, Sterling! Below Sterling tells about their hunt in Soggy Bottoms.
Hickory and I hunted a river bottom around a corn field yesterday morning for about an hour. He treed four times I got this one fox squirrel another timbered out over a bluff and got away, didn't find the other two. I thought this was a good picture of Hick. Sterling

Greta

Greta is no ordinary gal--she is a Galla Creek Girl!
Sterling Earhart sent this tale of Greta's first bushy tail! Read and smile! Who is Greta's Mother?
Made a little hunt yesterday with Louan and Greta. Louan treed five times, saw two, missed one and the other one didn't give a shot.

But I have to tell Greta's story. Louan was off hunting, Greta was out in front of me she got excited and ran into a thicket and got after a squirrel timbered it through the thicket and into a big oak.She was jumping up on the tree so I shot it out. Squirrel hit the ground took off Greta right after it, it ran up another tree. Greta grabbed it off tree and the chase was on. It finally got into a hollow log, but didn't get away! Greta stayed with it till I got there and made a hole big enough for her to get to it. This is not the first squirrel she has worked but she did really good on this one. Here is a picture of Greta and her first wild squirrel on the tailgate. Today is her 6 month birthday.

Shamrock/Radio Pups

Here are my two pups from Shamrock/Radio Flyer. I am calling the girl Gum Drop, as she has a big drop on her side and the male is Skittles, they are spilled all over his ear. I guess I will sell them but I really do like them and would love to keep 'em both.

Ollie/Max Pups

Olive Oyl and Max Pups are a month old. They are all sold except the smaller white male and he may be taken too. They were born on Sunday and Betty named them after Preachers. I hope they will 'show the way and the light'.
These are the two females--she named them after Rev. O'Malley on tv and Dwight Moody so they are Moody and O'Malley! The girls go to Peter Reimold of Tennessee and Coach Justin Tinsley of LA.
The first white pup is Friar Tuck (Robin Hood), next is little Huckabee (after our former Gov. and Baptist preacher Mike Huckabee, then the little Max looking male we named Graham after the great minister, Billy Graham, the mostly black male is named Max Lucado after the Church of Christ minister and author. Tuck is going to south Mississippi, Huck is still available, Graham is going to Sherry and Troy Vance, and Max goes to Larry Ellingson.

Shelby's New Feist

Katie Bridges and her Pup

Katie Bridges came to Galla Creek with her father Saturday and took a Spook/Shooter pup home to LA. The male pup is for her father Russell, but it does not look like Katie knows that. He is the one John Tubre name King Tut (John decided to take King Cole who is black and white). I think Katie has claimed King Tut as her own. The more attention Katie gives the pup the better squirrel dog he will be.

Coonie's Brother

This is Coonie's brother. He lives in Lowell, Mass. These are the first pictures we have of him since he went north. His owner loves him and takes him to work with him a lot (construction company). He said he will hunt anything. He has found a terrapin and made a capture. We have seen Coonie do the same. These dogs are out of Troy Vance's Cork and Judge Roy Bean.

Woody is out of Jonathan Pollard's Jed (Spook/Max) and Lillie (Zipper/Radio). Bev has a small insurance business in Prescott. He has a male Feist, Sparky, and wanted a partner for Sparky. Will post Sparky's photo tomorrow.

Cullum's Number Six

Jeremy Cullum wanted a Feist pup for his daughter Presley and one he could take squirrel hunting. He bought Six and she is working out great. Six is a full sister to Newman, below on the blog with the blue eyes. Jeremy found six on our Gazette Site. We are proud of the pictures he shared and hope he will share again--Here is his email that came with the photos
My name is Jeremy Cullum and I bought this puppy from Jonathon Pollard for my little girl Presley. She has decided to name her puppy Six, because the puppy is the 6th member of our family. The puppy has adjusted fine and is one of the smartest dogs I have ever had. I have taught her to sit, stay, lay down, and come to me in just a week. We have also started her on some squirrel training and she is learning fast and showing good potential. I have enclosed some pictures of my daughter Presley and Six for your website. Thank you for your time. Your website is great and very informational but I may have some questions for Larry about the squirrel training techniques. If you have any tips or just want to stay in touch email anytime. Thank you again.
