Wil Keen's Alamo
Rusty Keen sent this photo of a squirrel hunt with Galla Creek Alamo over Thanksgiving weekend. The hunt was near Yokena, Mississippi (just south of Vicksburg).
Wil was just a boy when he got Alamo from Galla Creek Kennels. He is now grown and Allie is 6 years old. Wil wanted to squirrel hunt and got Allie when she just 6 weeks old. He trained and loved her. Wil's Dad says Allie is part of the family. Thanks, Rusty Keen, for letting us know about Allie.Allie is shown below with Wil in the center and his friends, Nash and Huffman.
Here is his email:
Good afternoon Larry!
Please notice the above picture of Galla Creek Alamo and my son Wil (center) and two of his friends from Mississippi State. They came over to Winona last week and we had a nice morning hunt. Allie (Alamo) is six years old and we have thoroughly enjoyed her being a part of our family.
Allie is out of Galla Creek Cork and Judge Roy Bean.
Merry Christmas to all of you,
Rusty Keen (Wil's Dad)

Paying It Forward
This is King Tut from a hunt today. I sold Tut to Colby Leeds to squirrel hunt with his sons. Tut had to live in a pen or tied up. Colby took Tut out to his Dad's and let him have Tut. Mr. Leeds lives in the country and Tut did not have to stay in a small space. I had not heard from Colby about Tut for 2 years and I often wondered about my beautiful Feist. Today I got an email up date which I am going to post here. It sure made me smile.
Larry,
I have a long overdue update for you about Tut. He is doing great! I'm not sure if I told you or not the last time that I talked to you, but I couldn't stand seeing Tut chained up at my house. I felt that he needed to be able to hunt anytime he wanted too. So, I took him out to my Mom and Dads and let them have him. He has 40 acres to run and hunt on out there. He loves it out there. He has treed squirrels probably everyday for the past 2-1/2 years and recently began treeing coons at night. As a joke Dad told me he was worried about Tut, said he was getting bags under his eyes from squirrel hunting all day and coon hunting all night! My Dad has fell in love with Tut. It's like Tut understands every word my Dad says to him. My Dad has done so much for me over the years, I know I could never pay him back, but I feel that by letting him have Tut that it was a huge jump in that direction. I want to thank you again for the chance to own Tut. He is what Dad and I have always dreamed of having in a squirrel dog and just a good companion.
Thanks again
Colby Leeds

Galla Creek Cordoroy
Cordoroy--oh, Boy! Heard from Mark Gouger who owns Roy. Good to hear and see him again. Below is the email from Mark!
Above me and Mark with his buddies on the day he picked up Roy. Below Sigrid cradles Cordoroy!
There were 8 pups in Roy's litter. Top are the girls and 3 males below. I recall one of the females went to Brad S. The others' homes elude me today. Getting older and more forgetful.
Betty & Larry,
Hope all is well, I just wanted to give you a long overdue update on Galla Creek Cordoroy "Roy". He won his 1st NKC hunt last weekend. He has a 2nd and now a 1st place finish, so he is just 25 points away from NKC Squirrel Champion. I can't start to tell you how much we have enjoyed hunting together. He is one smart dog and a great hunting partner.
Thanks again

Took these photos on one of the sunny days last week. Galla Lake and Crow Mountain behind Galla Meadow.
Sadie is a little female Mt. Feist I own. Spud is her Grandfather. She is a high stepping little nimble Feist. I really enjoy her.

Pictures of the pups are below and a photo of adult Clue.
Here is what the Porters have to say about the pups.
Just wanted to drop a line to the Renfroe family to say that Clue has been the best friend a little boy could ask for. My son Eli has really taken to Clue - they are "best friends". Clue has treed quite a few of his own squirrels this year and has most recently has become a new dad!
Clues' other hunting partner, Rosie, had a litter of 9 a few weeks back.
Rosie is an awesome sight in the woods!
I have attached pictures of the whole hunting family, Eli was helping clean up the puppies kennel in this picture...
Liza my daughter was helping mommy give the pups a bath. They always make her excited!
Eli wants to keep all the pups, but if you know anyone interested, I just don't think I have room to keep ALL of them!

The little lad kept up when the litter was due and then when he could get his pup. He called to check on the pup and was really happy to get to take his pal home!

Last Summer
We have taken a vacation from raising Galla Feist Pups. Maybe we will go at it again, but we are old and tired. To really take care of the puppies is a continual chore. Here is Dobs from last summer. All these pups went to homes. I sure hope they are all well treated a year later!

Treed Two Days
Cora treed a squirrel up this big tree for 2 days. Only leaving to quickly get a drink and return to her spot under the tree. I finally shot the squirrel! She is not going to let any squirrel population come to this Meadow, I am afraid.

Need A Psychologist
Betty let her chickens out and this one is confused. She thinks she is a dog. Next thing she will be treeing squirrels! Should I get a Dr. or let her go hunting?

Squirrels At the Home Place
These pictures were from Betty's home place. We still own a few acres of the farm! These squirrels were after the black walnuts Betty's sister had picked up and stored in a gunny sack.
