Buster Ends Squirrel Season

Zack Kraft shared Buster's last tree this season. It has been a great run for Buster....thanks, Zack for sharing this last tree with us. Buster sure sounds fine. Seems like he is a littermate to Cora Vette.

Zack Kraft's Buster

Zack sent a photo of Buster and his two a day hunt. One of the squirrels is a black one. Black squirrels are rare in our part of the county. Buster is a brother to Cora Vette! Zack says he has killed about 50 squirrels with Buster his first season. Buster is just a little over a year old. Thanks for remembering us with the picture, Zack. Here is what he had to say about the hunt.
The weather has been awful here for the last couple of weeks of squirrel season. Mid 80's and wind gusts up to 30mph but we still managed to find two holding on for dear life in the swaying branches. I wanted to show off the black squirrel, not sure if other people have them but it's a pretty rare find here. Very proud of this dog thank you again. Zack

Nogo Nell and Romeo's Dan

Phillip Scroggins shared this picture of Pris and Galla Creek Dan's last hunt of the season. They live in Texas. Dan is out of Nell and Romeo and Pris goes back to Old Rowdy. Thanks for sharing with us. Here is Phillip's email:

Dear, Larry and Betty
Here is a picture of my son Hunter, Pris , Joseph Fentress, holding Galla creek Dan after a short evening hunt in Chester Tx. It has been tuff hunting this year we had such drought this past year. If Pris comes in soon we will make that cross again she will be ten in may so this would be the last time I would consider breeding her . Good news we have had 5inches of rain in the last week. Thanks, Phillip

P.S. This was from a few weeks ago our season has been out since Feb 4.

Snow Day Slow Day

We had snow today. Betty did not have school. We had a 'slow' day...worked really hard to just stay warm. Put new hay in the dog houses last night so they had a blanket from the cold.

Scout's New Home

Lee Moore delivered Scout to the Joyner family. Mike emailed that Scout was living in the house with him and they were bonding nicely. Mike once owned Amos Moses and a female pup from whose parents were Nogo Nell and Nelson. Serious illness brought Mike to a point when he had to find homes for his Feists. A new cure gave him a new lease on life. He called saying "I want a Galla Feist squirrel dog again". Lee Moore helped fulfill Mike's wish and now we are just waiting for treeing pictures from LA. Mike is getting a female pup from Dobs or Patch. We wish him the best. When you almost lose your life, you really appreciate a second wind! We love you Mike Joyner!

Carrie

This shows Patch--Carrie Nation--in puppyhood. She is as sweet as she looks and she will have her second litter of pups about the last day of March. This litter will be with Spud. Patch's parents are Bonnie Sue Parker and Shooter. We received another deposit today...well it was a total payment for a pup, $350.00. The man who sent it has a male pup who is a half brother to Patch. His Feist, Cooper, tore up the squirrels in southern Missouri last year and he wants a partner for Cooper. We will take a few more deposits so if you are wanting a Galla pup send your deposit. We offer pups by the date of the deposit.

Scout

Lee Moore wants to sell Scout to a good home. He guesses he has had well over 100 squirrels shot out to him. Scout is out of Babe Oyl (out of Opal and Spud) and Radio Flyer. His price is $1200. Call me if interested and I will put you in touch with Lee. I can give you more info about him 479 890 8090
Here is Lee's email:Since Sadie is in lock down (she is in heat) I have nothing but time to work these young dogs and that is what I have been doing. I carried Scout, Ruby and the 2 pups Saturday evening and got 2 should have got 2 more but they were a little slow to tree and the squirrel started timbering and twice more they could tell a squirrel was near but just couldn't quite figure it out I am hoping they were winding them. Then I carried Scout and Ruby Sunday before heading to work. We hunted about an hour and I rode the 4 wheeler and we got these 4. That afternoon was slow so we cut it short bad weather but I should have knocked 1 out to them but it limped away. They are coming along just fine and Scout does most of the treeing (at least first) out of this bunch. Hope you enjoy the pics. Lee

Facebook Friend

Derek S. sent me a message asking to be my friend and tagged me this picture. On facebook, you can not always tell what state folks live. I am hoping Derek sees I shared his squirrel hunting photo and fills us in on the particulars of the hunt.

Squirrels Scarce in Arkansas

These pictures were snapped in Washington State. Squirrels everywhere out there. As normal, our squirrels are few and far between. We had a bunch until deer season and then poof they were gone.

Galla Creek Buster--Mountain Feist

Message from Zack-- Had buster out playing yesterday evening and he treed in the front yard. This particular squirrel always timbers out across the road where buster can't go, so I called him back and told him to stay in the back yard. He minded but got on the picnic table so that he could see into the tree where he knew the squirrel went. Funny dog, smart, and trainable even for an amateur like me. I wanted to share the photo of him pouting about being called off a squirrel, looks like he's posing for a bench show. Thanks. Zack

Zeke & Siggie & Colton

It is really great to see these 3 Galla Creek friends of ours. This is Siggie (orange collar), Zeke, and Colton Phillips. They all look great. Here is the email including Colton's sire and dam! lol
Hello Betty & Larry,
Hope each of you are doing well. I wanted to drop a line and let you know
that we are doing fine down here in SW AR. We haven't been able to hunt as
much as we would like, but we hit the woods every chance we get. I'm
sending you a photo from a recent hunt with Siggie Belle (Two Rivers Sandy
X Tie) and Zeke (Lia X Spud) and Colton (Regina X Clif). We didn't
have any success from a squirrel standpoint, but it was good to be in the
woods with Colton and our dogs, each learning new things. Seems like this
year there was not that good of a crop of squirrels in our area.
P.S. Our 4 pups are now 10 months old and doing great. I take each one
out separately on hunts with Siggie (Zeke is a true alpha male and only
hunts well with females.)
God Bless!
Clif, Regina, Colton & Caiden
