Galla Creek Viper
This is our new female. She came from Larry Ellingson. Her sire is Tie and her mother is Bell Starr. Bell is out of Ol' Max. We are thinking of calling her Viper, thinking that would fit with Cora Vette. She has a colored circle around one eye. She is already watching the birds and chasing them from the yard.

Sookie's New Home
This is Eli with Sookie, his new Feist dog. His Grandfather W. T. Vickory bought Sookie for his Grandson. Sookie is out of Spud and Lacy J (Larry Ellingson's female), Lacy has several ties back to Galla Creek through Max's mother and Old Rowdy. We have hopes that Sookie will fill every dream Eli has for squirrel hunting.

Act Two
The trick to using a trapped squirrel and a pup is you DO NOT want the pup to jump off the ground much. So you need a way to let the squirrel lower if the pup jumps for it. Jumping under a tree is a bad habit and you don't want to foster it.

Cora Vette
Cora met her first squirrel. I am going to trap some and turn them loose over here. We get a few squirrels in the Galla Meadow but not many. She did not really like Mr. Squirrel from the get go.
Texas Farm Dog
Jack is riding around with Troy helping out with tomato planting. Troy says he is a Texas farm dog. If the wind has been blowing there like it has here, Troy you had better lease him to that Mule!
Here is what Troy said:
THE WIND WAS BLOWING ABOUT 20 PLUS TODAY SO I DECIDED TO DO A LITTLE FARMING. PUT OUT SOME EARLY GIRL TOMATOES AND JACK WATCHED. I TOLD HIM DOGS HERE IN TEXAS HAVE TO BE MULTI-SKILLED. SEEMED TO UNDERSTAND. THINK HE IS GOING TO FIT IN FINE.

Lonesome Dove
Troy sent this photo of Judge Roy Bean and Gus. Gus is a litter mate to Matt Howell's Maggie.
Troy and Sherry named the litter after characters on the Lonesome Dove. Gus is doing pretty well. Here's Troy's email: THIS IS GUS AND JB IN THE PIC. GUS IS 10 MONTHS OLD AND GOT HIS FIRST 2 SOLO TREES LAST WEEK. HE ALSO TREED WITH JB ON A COON ONE DAY. HE SURE BARKED UP GOOD ON THE TREE. HIS BROTHER DEETS IS RUNNING A LITTLE BEHIND GUS BUT I THINK HE WILL GET THERE. THIS LITTER WAS NAMED AFTER LONESOME DOVE ACTORS. THEY ARE FULL BROTHERS TO MATT HOWELL'S MAGGIE.

Troy Vance and I are Wondering?
Troy Vance told us about a little brown bird with a red head that was eating at his feeders. He was wondering was kind of bird it was...well, I got to watching and I have the same bird here. Troy took the bottom two pictures in Texas and I took these top two here on Galla Creek. Is this a female Cardinal? What bird is it? Troy and I are addled.

Joe Hendrix and Spud
This is my good friend, Joe Hendrix. He went hunting with Spud and I toward the last of February and I don't think I have posted his photo. I like to post most of my pictures because then I have a record of pictures and even a little explanation. That is how I found the photo of Tie when he was a pup and yes, his paper name is Oliver, after the old Oliver Tractor.

Galla Creek McCormick
This is Tie's full brother, litter mate! I am so pleased to hear about him and happy to have new photos. He took 3rd in the LA State Hunt and it was his first competition. Here is Dustin Pilcher's email. Another lift in my spirits. Thanks, Dustin for sharing this with me.
Hey Mr Larry this is Dustin Pilcher. Here are some pictures of some hunts this year. Rudy (McCormick) has done very well. Rudy did tree the Bobcat, it was very exciting run! They did have a scuffle before we could get a shot on the bobcat. Rudy ended up with a few scratches. I am going to have the Bobcat mounted to put in my shop. In LA you are allowed to kill one bobcat a year. The other dog pictured is Randy Moulton's dog Anna that he bought from you. She helped bring down the cat also. This past weekend we went to the Louisiana State hunt in Haughton, LA and took 3rd place out of 30 dogs. We won first in both our casts, also this was both of ours first competition hunt. God has truly blessed me with a great dog. Thanks again for selling him to me!

Nice Email
I got the nicest email--about my cousin's red Feist. My cousin, Rick, had hunted this red Feist and he decided he wanted to sell him. I told Ron Abels about Rick's dog. He came up and tried Rick's dog and took him home. Here is his email! I had hunted with Rick and his Feist and knew he was a good squirrel dog. Now for the email that helps me keep on truckin'! Thanks, Ron for lifting me up.
Mr. Larry I would like to thank you for telling me about the dog that Mr. Ricky Mahan had, we are absolutely loving him. My son, Sean Michael, who is 12, has had a blast with him. As you had told me, Ole Tiger was a little spooky to begin with but has warmed up to the family very nicely. We are taking Tiger out about 3 or so times a week trying to get him to walk hunt and he is coming along very well. He has treed every time we have taken him and he is hunting farther away from us each time. Last Saturday morning he treed six times, had 3 squirrels and 3 hollows. Again thanks for all of the information and for helping us get in contact with Mr. Ricky. By the way, Sean loved the video on your blog of Tiger, Rusty, and Opal treeing together, he thought that was just amazing that his dog was on your website. Sean and I look forward to meeting you when we come to get a pup. Thanks again.
Hope all is well with your wife since her surgery and may God Bless.

Jag's Gone Squirrel Crazy
This is an older photo of Laine and Jag, but Shannon sent an update on how Jag was fairing. Sounds like he is doing his best to stay entertained until next season! Here is his email:
Jag's day was filled with chewing up an old water hose and chasing a caught squirrel up two different trees and almost caught the squirrel. Then watched the squirrel jump to another tree. I think Jag bout got a creak in his neck looking up at em so long. He's really squirrel crazy. He nipped the squirrel running and almost got em.

Troy sent this photo of what his Galla Gals do in the off season! I love it!
Here is his email:
YOU WOULD THINK THESE GALLA GIRLS JUST SIGNED A BIG NFL CONTRACT. DURING THE OFF SEASON THEY DON'T GET THE EXERCISE THEY NEED SO I'M GOING TO FIND A EXERCISE MACHINE TO PUT THESE PUPS ON. BEEN DOING A LITTLE THINKING ON IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT LARRY.
