Troy and Sherrie Vance sent photos of their new whelping Kennels. Wow, they are nice and Miss Dobs will be the first female to try out their hospital. There are a myriad of reasons to have the new pups off the ground, but the biggest is the dreaded diseases are in the soil! Now, pups can get diseases in the above ground kennels but they are safer than on soil.

Poem from Jed
Jed is Spud's full brother. He lives in St. Louis and when he saw the post about Spud treeing and me not killing his prize, Jed sent along a little verse he composed about the situation. One of Jed's masters, Peter, was born in Russia so Jed is also now trilingual, speaking 3 languages--Dog, English and Russian! Here is the Poem that Peter and Jed composed for Spud--
Confusion
Look here, Master, I have done my part of the job.
I chased that critter faithfully through brush, over log.
I herded him easily, having taken his measure
Have cornered him up there for your shooting pleasure
What on earth are you thinking?!
Go on! Take the shot!
Are you sick? Are you crazy? I know that you're not!
What do you mean that critter isn't in season?
Trust me, I'm a pro, I know that's no reason.
To be standing there staring and shaking your head.
I guess you are sick. So just slink off to bed.
But good luck with sleeping, because I know my rights
I'll be barking right here for the next six months of nights!

Shooters for Sale
I have Shooter for sale. I held him for over a month for a guy who said he wanted him, but I am putting him back on here for sale as I have not heard from him since he called. Shooter is 6 years old, half McAndrews and half Beaty Feist. He came from the kennel of Hal Hurst at Flippin, AR. He is a good squirrel dog and has thrown some great pups. I am selling him because I am keeping one of his sons, and I have Spud. Call me at 479 890 8090 if you want to take him hunting. I want $2,000 for Shooter.

Don't Tread on Me!
Yesterday about noon a visitor tried to enter Galla Meadow! Mistake. I thought Bonnie and Spud were treeing the Martins as they don't think they belong here either. I walked down to where they were treed and spied the intruder in the Persimmon tree. Spud was really mad because I would not shoot him! I came back to the house but after hours of hearing them under the tree I had to put them up so he could escape. Spud still won't talk to me!

Abby Needs A Home
I received this email and information about Abby, an unregistered Mountain Feist in central Arkansas. She needs a good home. Here is what was sent to me and the contact information! She has that multicolored tail like Belle Starr.
The email address is cvoss@aristotle.net
Larry, I rescued a dog I believe is a mountain feist from the Sherwood animal
shelter. She has been fixed and is current on all of her shots. But I am gone 13 hours 3-4 days per week. Therefore I am trying to find her a good home. Her name is Abby, she is very friendly, loving and has lots of energy. She is about 1 yr old I think.Could you help me find her a new home? I will try to send you a photo in another email. Thanks, Cindy phone # 501-945-3662.

Country Life
Every Time I Climb a Tree
Every time I climb a tree
Every time I climb a tree
Every time I climb a tree
I scrape a leg
Or skin a knee
And every time I climb a tree
I find some ants
Or dodge a bee
And get the ants
All over me
And every time I climb a tree
Where have you been?
They say to me
But don’t they know that I am free
Every time I climb a tree?
I like it best
To spot a nest
That has an egg
Or maybe three
And then I skin
The other leg
But every time I climb a tree
I see a lot of things to see
Swallows rooftops and TV
And all the fields and farms there be
Every time I climb a tree
Though climbing may be good for ants
It isn’t awfully good for pants
But still it’s pretty good for me
Every time I climb a tree

Charlee Sistruck Doing the Chicken
When Steve Sistruck brought his female Feist up from Bastrop, LA to be bred to Tie, we were lucky to meet his daughter, Charlee. When she saw Betty had chickens she entertained us with a Bantam Boogie and was joined by her brother Mathew at the end! Enjoy little Charlee as we did.

Pups in Yell County
Email from Bruce Blihovde below this paragragh. Pepper is out of Old Rowdy so these pups go back in him on both sides. They are line bred pups. Shooter is the sire of Buster. Buster is the dog on the right above on the tree. The dog on the left is Lady who belongs to Howard Gilbert. Howard passed away a short time ago. He will be missed.
Lucy had seven pups last night. Lucy is out of Pris and Dale and Pris is a daughter of Pepper. The father is Buster who is Pepper's last pup out of Shooter. My first good line breeding. Hope to put them in the hands of hunters. Thanks, Bruce Bruce's email address is mblihovde@centurytel.net if you want to email him about the pups. |

Rebel Missing a Week
Larry McDowell sent an email that Rebel is missing. He was at a partner's house and Larry is afraid a neighbor shot Rebel (out of Nogo Nell and Spud). We are all still hoping he will turn up. He had been treeing for a long time but not barking on the tree well and just recently he had figured that out too! Honoring Rebel today!

Spud, Companion Dog
Whatever we do, Spud does too. I have been eliminating some turtles from my pond. Spud is helping out. He barks at me to shoot. No matter if a turtle has his head up or not. I really have a lot of fish in my pond and want to keep it that way. Spud just likes the shooting. If I do try to get a turtle, Spud will immediately swim out to investigate the area.

Six Pence Treed
Got this new pretty picture of Penny from Keith and the email below. She is out of Spook and Shooter.
I trapped a squirrel for penny to chase in my tube today. I had been doing some land clearing and my tube had been on the ground all winter. After a couple of trips up and down the tube Mr Squirrel had, had enough and found a rusty place to break out. Penny chased it to the tree and new what to do then. Although she didnt bark she jumped and whined excitedly.
Thanks, Keith Stanton

Fork
Robert Wiggins sent pictures of Fork treeing his heart out. We are proud we sent Fork to Robert as they have made a great pair of friends and hunters. Fork goes back to the old Beeks Feist of Dutch Mills, Ar. We visited Howard Beeks about 7 years ago at his farm. I would bet he has gone on to his glory by now. But his little dogs live on.

One Job Done
Finished the celler project yesterday. The blue and orange machines in the photo did a good job.
I did not find any human bones inside, but did discover a little of everything else...all junk.
If the celler had just been a mound of dirt it would not have been so bad but concrete stuck out of the soil and rebar and brick and blocks. You could not move over it without hitting something and messing up the mower...glad to see the big mound gone.
