Galla Creek Dan~Rocket!
Dan lives in New York. I knew when the Leubners called
wanting a Feist that they had to be special folks. They
drove to AR from New York to get Dan. The 4 Leubner
children call Dan 'rocket'. There are lots of squirrels and
coon in New York. When I think of New York...I can only
picture New York City, but the Leubners live in on a farm
near Marcellus, New York. I think Dan is really liking his
new home. Thanks to Tom for sharing the pictures.

Trying to Remember!
Yesterday while looking through old-real photos
I ran across this male dog. I can see the scene
in on Galla Creek near by house...and Max had
photos taken that day in a near location, but for
the life of me I can't recall this dog. He looks
white and red, but I wonder if the angle of the
shot is not confusing me. It is pretty bad when you
get so old and have had so many dogs that you
can't even remember them all. I may be ready
for the nursing home!

Whistling Dixie~Spud Pups!
Spencer Tapp's Feist Whistling Dixie had 6 pups
last night at 2:30, 3 boys and 3 girls. One was
really little. The photo of her reminds me of
the way Belle always rowed up her puppies.
Then when I looked at Dixie's pedigree I
remembered that Belle was Dixie's Great
Grandmother. One side of Dixie's pedigree
is all Galla Creek. Names like Bell, Taylor,
Boog Carter, Crook, Fred, and of course...
our old hero, Langford's Rowdy!!!

Galla Creek Tobias!
son of Carolina Crossfire and Spud. She only had
three pups. The pup we have out of Carolina and
Peanut is a really good dog and we want want from
Spud and Carolina. Since she only had 3 pups, we
bred her again this heat. Hope we get a pup like
Toby! Thanks to Jacob for letting us see how Toby
is growing up!

Spud and Astrid~Real Deals!
Seeing the old photo of Spud swimming
yesterday made me get the idea of taking
him for a swim last evening as it was hot here.
Astrid and I took him to Galla Lake on the
four wheeler and let him swim. When we
started home, I decided to let him run in
front of the four wheeler for exercise...about
half way home all of a sudden the threw his
head up stopped running his fast clip down
Galla Road...he headed straight up the hill
into the woods and in a minute barked treed.
Astrid and I went to check and he had a cat
squirrel treed. It always amazes me that a
Feist can smell a squirrel running 20 miles an
hour down an road...up in the woods. What a
nose!

Never to old to learn!
I am taking a class on Saturdays at a Vo-Tech
in Little Rock. My project was to rebuild this
Jeep. It was a mess when I started, but is
almost ready to bring home. To learn something
new...you have to begin. Once that is over it's
just taking steps along the way. Squirrel hunting
is the same...I continue to learn more each year!

Reu!
Reuben is the male pup out of Jim E Sue
and Spud that we did not sell. We love him
as he is as smart as his Aunt Belle. He uses
his nose to find anything we hide when playing
'hide and seek'. He will bark on command and
when we don't do what he wants he really
barks without any command. He loves coming
in the house for a visit. He has stolen my sock
here and is playing 'keep away'.

Sparky!
Sparky is only about 7 months old here...treeing with
the big dogs. She has her first litter of pups. We farmed
her out to LA and the sire is Amos Moses. All six pups
are mostly white. Sparky's paper name is Mabelle Carter!
She is a littermate to Spud and is the sweetest dog we have
ever owned. Bonnie Sue Parker takes a close second though.

Smarty Jones
Smarty Jones is treeing in the squirrel pen. She is
a sister to Tack and out of Cranky and Max. She has
a crooked short tail ...the only pup in the litter of 8
with a short tail. This trait comes from Todd Carter's
Crook, who is Belle Starr's mother. Belle is Smarty's
Great Grandmother and Crook is Smarty's Great,
Great Grandmother. I think that makes this trait
4 generations back from Smarty...but the gene was
still there!

Tag You're It!
Here is a photo of Spook's new litter of pups. We
always study the pups really 'hard' for our pick.
When Spook just had one male pup, I keep thinking
'Tag You're It'. Picking Tag was easy as he was the
prettiest of the litter! Tag looks like he is a chocolate
color instead of black like Spook, but his color could
change. To take the photo I put Tag in the bucket
that I carry the food to the pen with. He liked the
snug feel of the nest....but Spook did not like it at all!

Timbering!
In our area of Arkansas a squirrel dog that
can tree but can't timber a squirrel is useless.
Squirrels can easily timber a mile in the tops
of trees here. When the Feist trees and then
starts running under the trees looking up and
barking we always yell, 'timbering'. It is so
much fun...and sometimes the squirrel loses
his grip and falls, tumbling to the ground and
a real chase is on!

Dogs sleeping~Rainy Days!
The dogs are resting easy as it is rainy and
cool on Galla Creek. When the rain stops,
the squirrels come out to eat and the dogs
start telling them to hit the road, Jack.
We dug potatoes yesterday. Only got one
row dug before the rains sat in. Hope the
other does not rot before we get them out
of the red dirt!

Tenna & Brown Sugar!
Bobby Crutcher's Grandson shared this photo of their
dog, Galla Creek Tenna, out of Carolina Crossfire and
Spud. We were amazed at how Tenna looks like
our Carolina Crossfire pup, Brown Sugar. Tenna is
learning obedience skills and this fall and winter she
will be treeing those Texas squirrels. Sugar and Tenna
look like doubles!
